Luis M. Sanchez, KHS
A veteran of the Texas Capitol, Louie Sánchez has 16 years of legislative experience having previously served a decade as Chief of Staff to retired Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. He joined Hance Scarborough in 2021 and represents a variety of clients including trade associations, local governments, and corporations in the aerospace, energy, healthcare, and technology sectors.
While on staff in the Texas Senate, Sánchez was assigned stewardship of several pieces of legislation which have long-lasting contributions to the state. Included are bills which authorized space launch operations in Texas; appropriations which incentivized a spaceport in south Texas; bills which established the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and its school of medicine; and, legislation which authorized the construction of a second access causeway to South Padre Island.
A native of the Rio Grande Valley raised in San Antonio, Sánchez is a 12th generation Texan descended from some of Texas’ earliest pioneering families. In addition to his professional responsibilities, he is a longtime volunteer of the American Diabetes Association and serves as co-chair for its National Advocacy Committee in Washington, D.C. which sets all federal and state public policy priorities for the organization.
In his spare time, Sánchez enjoys spending time with family, traveling, snowboarding, and seeking outdoor adventure. He is a member of the Stewards of the Wild, and is a volunteer huntmaster for the Texas Wildlife Association. In 2022, he was invested into the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.
