Luis M. Sanchez, KHS

Louie Sánchez is a seasoned advocate at the Texas Capitol with more than 19 years of legislative and policy experience. He spent a decade as Chief of Staff to retired Texas Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr., where he played a central role in advancing major legislative initiatives with lasting impact across Texas. In 2021, he joined the respected law firm of Hance Scarborough, where he represents a diverse portfolio of clients—including trade associations, local governments, and industry leaders in aerospace, energy, health policy, private equity, and technology.

Widely regarded as a trusted and effective voice in state government, Sánchez has a proven record of shaping public policy and delivering strategic victories for his clients, securing hundreds of millions of dollars in public funding. In recognition of his leadership and impact, he was named Best in Policy – Policy Intelligence (2025) by US Lege, which praised him as “someone who truly understands both the art and discipline of policymaking.”

During his tenure in the Texas Senate, Sánchez helped lead landmark efforts such as authorizing space launch operations in Texas, securing appropriations to develop spaceport infrastructure, establishing the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and its School of Medicine, and authorizing the construction of a second causeway to South Padre Island.

A proud 12th-generation Texan, Sánchez was born in the Rio Grande Valley and raised in San Antonio. Beyond his professional work, he serves as Vice Chair of the national board of DPAC, a patient-centered organization advancing equitable diabetes policy, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Wildlife Association, where he promotes responsible land stewardship and hunting heritage.

In recognition of his commitment to faith and service, Sánchez was invested into the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem by the Roman Catholic Church in 2022.
