Luis M. Sanchez, KHS

A veteran of the Texas Capitol, Louie Sánchez has 18 years of legislative experience having previously served a decade as Chief of Staff to retired Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. He joined Hance Scarborough in 2021 and represents a variety of clients ranging from trade associations and local governments to industries representing aerospace, health policy, private equity, and technology.  A trusted name at the Texas Capitol, he has a record of demonstrated success on behalf his clients, helping shape public policy and securing millions of dollars in funds.

While on staff in the Texas Senate, Sánchez was assigned stewardship of several pieces of legislation which have long-lasting contributions to the state. Included are bills which authorized space launch operations in Texas; appropriations which incentivized spaceport development; bills which established the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and its school of medicine; and legislation which authorized the construction of a second access causeway to South Padre Island.

A native of the Rio Grande Valley raised in San Antonio, Sánchez is a 12th generation Texan descended from some of Texas’ earliest pioneering families. In addition to his professional responsibilities, he serves on the national board of DPAC, a patient-centered advocacy coalition working towards meaningful public policy and action on diabetes.

In his spare time, Sánchez enjoys spending time with family, traveling, snowboarding, seeking outdoor adventure, and teaching others to hunt. To compliment his passions, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Texas Wildlife Association.

In 2022, he was invested into the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem by the Roman Catholic Church.
